This gentle, healing yoga class is appropriate for all who wish to add the healing qualities of yoga to their lives. We move the body through the classical poses very slowly, gently and conscientiously. Rests are taken between poses as the body moves towards inner introspection on a physical and meditative level. This class is highly beneficial for those who are ready to return to physical activity after an illness or injury, or for those who have not moved much in a long time. Everyone will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
The Dharma Gentle Class was designed by Sri Dharma Mittra who founded one of the early independent schools of Yoga in New York City in 1975. He is the author of the world-renowned masterpiece, The Master Yoga Chart of 908 Postures. Sri Dharma Mittra’s life represents intense service to mankind through the ethical, spiritual, and practical physical philosophy of Yoga in action. He has influenced hundreds of thousands of aspirants in his nearly half century of teaching. He continues to teach daily at the Dharma West Temple at 61 West 23rd St. in New York City, leads “Life of a Yogi” 200, 500, and 800 hour Teacher Trainings, and workshops worldwide.
